Education in Nagaon

Nagaon being one of the fastest growing cities of the northeast,has a population of 2,314,629 (as of 2001) and is located in the central part of Assam. It has a  mix of cultures of both Hindu and Islamic population. Sankardeva, who brought about a Renaissance in Assamese society, was born in this town.

Some famous tourist spots like Bordowa, Lowkhowa Avayaranya, Champawati Kunda, Samaguri Bill, Kaliabor, Jugijan, Doboka, etc. add to the beauty of the city.

Nagaon always witnesses a moderate climate with a wind blowing. Summer seasons (April-May) has a maximum of 40°C and winter (October to March) has a minimum 5°C.

Educational Scenario

With some renowned colleges like the  Nowgong College, located at the heart of the town and the oldest school in Assam, Nagaon Mission High School, established by the Christian missionary Miles Bronson way back in 1846. Nagaon possess an excellent educational scenario.

Among the city's many other institutions of higher learning are the Anandaram Dhekial Phookan College, Kaliabor College, Lanka Mahavidyalaya, Lumding College, Nagaon GNDG Commerce College, Government Shikhan Mahavidyalaya, Nowgong Law College, Assam Government Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital.
