Special ProgrammesManagement Studies: The Department of Business Administration came into existence in the year 1978. It aims to improve an analytical mind-set, professional knowledge, and a passion for achievement. Since inception, the department offers MBA and Ph.D programmes.

Department of BiotechnologyThe Department of Biotechnology was established in the year 1993 by converting earlier Department of Applied Botany and Biotechnology.
The objective of the department is to spread awareness among the people of the country to accept the benefits of biotechnological innovations so that they can forward themselves in the changing world.
Courses Offered: Masters in Biotechnology (M. Sc.) Programme (2 Years)
Intake capacity is 12 (Twelve). Admission is through an admission test (written and personal interview).
Admission procedureStudents for admission into the course are selected through an admission test conducted towards the end of the academic session. Due weightage is given for marks obtained at Degree level in Major subject.
Qualification RequiredStudents having B.Sc. Degree from a recognized Institution with minimum of 55% marks (50% marks for reserved category) in any of the following Major subjects are eligible to apply-
- Botany, Zoology, Chemistry (with Zoology or Botany as one of the Elective subject); Or, Graduate in Microbiology, Biotechnology or Biochemistry. Must have chemistry as one of the elective subjects in case of Major in Botany/Zoology.
Reservation of seat- 37% seats are reserved for the following category of students-
- Schedule Caste
- Schedule Tribe
- Other Backward Class (OBC/MOBC)
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.) Programme (3 to 5 Years): Application received for admission in the month of December/January every year. Sponsored, Self financed and Part-time candidates are allowed on the recommendations of the respective Ph.D. guide and Departmental Research Committee (DRC). Students with NET/ Fellowship are preferred. Collaborative programme permitted with recognized Institutes/Research Laboratories.

Department of Communication and JournalismThe Department of Communication and journalism was established in 1967. Initially, the department offered only an evening diploma course but gradually it was elevated to a degree course, Bachelor of Communication and Journaism.
Courses Offered: M.A. in Mass Communication is a full-time Four semester programme. Total number of papers is 16 with several options for specialization in the Fourth Semester Admission through entrance test followed by personality interview for those who qualify in the written test.
Eligibility: 50 % marks in graduation in any discipline with the usual concession in marks for those belonging to reserved category of classes, Session starts in November every year and the admission process begins around August / September.
Short-Term Programmes: A two-day colloquium on international humanitarian laws and conflict resolution was organized in 2004 which was a major success and based on this another such programme is to be organized by August last week or early September this year again.
