Tezpur University is located at Napam, which is about 15 kms. east of Tezpur. It was established as a Central University in the year 1994, by an act of the Parliament (Act. No- 45, 1993). Sri P.V. Narsimha Rao, former Prime Minister of India, announced the opening of the university.
